Had a great time on the water at the Sussex Classic race last weekend. One of the main things I learned this weekend was how important it is to be focused. I'm very happy with how I managed it, and I also noticed that I have a way to go still. My lines could have been better, and my speed dropped whenever I stopped concentrating on technique. I'm really loving these opportunities to do more races and fine-tune these things!
It looked flat from the beach, but then we actually had some swell to play with
Happy to win my category and finish second woman and 25th paddler overall.
What I love most about going to races, though, is spending a weekend doing what I love, with people who are passionate about the same thing.
It was great to get to do this one with Lizelle Kemp again. There's nothing like training and racing with more experienced paddlers to jump-start your learning.
