This was the first time I went white water paddling with folks from my local club in Germany, Kanu-Club Merzig, where I started paddling. It must have been about a year after I started with Slalom. I paddled a Perception Fox, basically a plastic slalom boat, because I figured I would be able to handle it best.
You can see my friend Steffen setting safety, which is always a good idea at trickier features. In this case, it was pretty essential because I had never tried anything like this and there was no telling how I would do. As you see, I was fine.
