LATEST NEWS:

My story ‘Will-o’-the-Wisp’ is out in Hillfire Anthology V1, and ‘Spirals’ in V2.

I have founded a small Press and am putting Together an anthology with some fantastic people. Volume 1 and 2 are now available! Read all about Hillfire Press here.

I write to explore how stories can tell the truth without being the truth. I’m a Creative Writing PhD student at the University of Edinburgh — focussing on chronology.

My first poem dates back to pre-primary school, but I didn’t know I wanted to write for an audience until I visited the Ibsen Museum in Oslo and then came to Edinburgh for the first time. Edinburgh is also where I have studied for my master’s degree in Creative Writing.

I’m actively working on lengthening this list and seeking publication for a series of poems about birds, various short stories about mushrooms, beetroot juice and life in general, and my Master’s dissertation, a novella called ‘Mycelium’ which is about friendship, family, mycology and coming to terms with the past. My current project is the novel I am writing for my PhD.

In 2022, I founded Hillfire Press, Edinburgh Ltd. Hillfire Press publishes an annual anthology of new writing. Volumes 1 and 2 are available to order, with Volume 3 coming soon.

I’m the Managing Director of The Selkie, a literary magazine which publishes underrepresented writers.

I am a member of the Society of Authors - unions are important!

Unfortunately, Riptide is no longer available.

My shortstory ‘Cramond Island’ was published with Riptide Journal this March.
There was a beautiful live launch at Kaleider Studios, Exeter and an online launch.

Beforehand, I taught a workshop on writing place at the University of Exeter.

You can listen to the podcast episode about my expereince here, and read the blog article here.

Get your copy of ‘Collisions’, Riptide Journal Volume 14, here, and stay tuned for Volume 15, in which my friend Claire O’Connor has a brilliant story.

From Arthur’s Seat

While studying for my Master’s of Science in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh, I was the Editor-in-Chief of my cohort’s anthology, From Arthur’s Seat Volume Five. This was hands down the most exciting and rewarding part of my year as a Master’s student! You can read a more detailed account of how proud I am of my amazing team here!

This is also where my first story, ‘Sherwood’ is published. You can hear me read an excerpt of this story in the third of our three YouTube Launch Parties — I’m hosting the first.

Together

My poem ‘Lovestream’ is published in Together, a collection of prose and poetry. Together is a truly diverse account of the Covid19 pandemic published in aid of the NHS. While I think it’s outrageous that the NHS has been underfunded by the government to the point where it is now treated like a charity, I’m proud to have contributed! Check out the ‘authors’ tab, I’m super excited to be published along with all those amazing folks!

The writer’s series event with Brunel University and Hillingdon Literary Festival including my reading and discussion of my poem ‘Lovestream’ Is online now!
